Measuring Guide
Our production team handles 99% of the measurements needed for your custom caravan or motorhome cover. If you have extra attachments or non-standard roof furniture, we may require a few additional measurements from you to ensure a perfect fit. Don't worry – our measuring guide makes this easy. Providing your dimensions promptly helps us expedite your cover's production.
Before You Start Measuring
While each cover is custom-made, we can't create a specific diagram for every caravan or motorhome. Our measurement sheets provide a general representation of your vehicle and may differ slightly from your actual vehicle. The measuring process is consistent for both caravans and motorhomes. When we request a measurement from the rear of your vehicle, ensure it's taken from the farthest point.
Solar Panel Dimensions
If opting for a solar panel insert, we require a few measurements to ensure precise window placement. Even factory-installed solar panels vary in dimensions. We'll need four measurements from you:
- Distance from the rear of the vehicle to the solar panel (measure to the furthest point)
- Distance from the closest side to the solar panel (mark nearside or offside)
- Solar panel width
- Solar panel length
Repeat for additional solar panels requiring windows.
Access Flap Dimensions
If you need access to features while your cover is on, we can add an access flap. We'll need these measurements from you:
1. Distance from the rear of the vehicle to the access point (measure to the furthest point)
2. Distance from the bottom of the bodywork to the bottom of the access point
3. Access point width
4. Access point height
For rear access, our Easy-Fit System allows you to reach the back without removing the cover.
Satellite Dish Dimensions
If you have a satellite dish on your roof, we'll need additional measurements to ensure a perfect fit without being too tight. Please provide these five measurements:
1. Distance from the rear of the vehicle to the satellite dish (measure to the furthest point)
2. Distance from the closest side to the satellite dish (mark nearside or offside)
3. Satellite dish width
4. Satellite dish height
5. Satellite dish length
TV aerials are typically straightforward and rarely require measurements beyond their position (front, middle, or rear), which you can specify on our ordering page.
Air Con Unit Dimensions
If you have an air conditioning unit installed on the roof of your caravan or motorhome, we’ll need to add an allowance of fabric to ensure your cover fits perfectly and won’t be too tight. The five measurements we’ll need from you are:
- Distance From Rear of the Vehicle to the Air Con Unit (remember to measure for the furthest point of the rear)
- Distance From Closest Side to Air Con Unit (mark nearside or offside)
- Air Con Unit Width
- Air Con Unit Height
- Air Con Unit Length
Bike Rack Dimensions
For bike racks attached to caravans and motorhomes, we need additional measurements to ensure the Easy-Fit System works correctly. Please provide these five measurements:
1. Height of the bike rack
2. Depth of the bike rack
3. Bottom of the bike rack to the bottom of the vehicle's bodywork
4. Width of the vehicle (behind the bike rack)
5. Width of the vehicle (over the bike rack)
No need to provide the width of the bike rack itself, as these measurements will cover all necessary allowances.
Awning Dimensions
For awning attachments, slight adjustments to the pattern are needed to ensure a proper fit. Please provide these measurements:
1. Distance from the rear of the vehicle to the awning (measure to the furthest point)
2. Length of the awning
If your awning extends above the roofline of your vehicle, also include the height of the awning.
Door Hinge Dimensions
We already have door access patterns for most vehicles, but for new or older models, we may need precise measurements. To incorporate door access, please provide:
1. Distance from the centre of the A-frame/front bumper to the door hinge.
2. Distance from the centre of the vehicle's rear to the door hinge.
Tip: Use your vehicle's registration plate (assuming it's centrally positioned) to locate the centre of the rear. For motorhomes, use the front registration plate similarly.
Vehicle Length Dimensions
For motorhome covers, we need one crucial measurement: from the centre of the front bumper to the rear side of the motorhome. Use a long fabric tape measure for accuracy.
Tip: Use your vehicle's centrally positioned registration plate as a reference point for measuring.
Measuring the length of your caravan is rarely necessary, but here are the instructions just in case: Start measuring from the centre of the A-frame.
